Anxiety Disorders

What is an anxiety disorder?

An anxiety disorder is a condition in which a person experiences intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations, causing a negative impact in their daily functioning. Everyone experiences occasional stress, but folks that struggle with anxiety disorders live with debilitating feelings of tension, fear, and panic.

People living with an anxiety disorder may experience panic attacks, avoid going to certain place or doing certain things, or shut down when they are triggered. They may feel constantly jumpy or on edge, and feel overwhelmed by their feelings.

I like to take a personalized approach to helping people with anxiety disorders, focusing on their specific triggers of anxiety, and what helps them feel the most regulated. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and play therapy in my treatment approach. Anxiety disorders can present with a variety of symptoms and struggles, so I like to work with my clients on the aspects of the disorder that are most troubling to them.
