Problematic Sexual Behaviors in Children
What are problematic sexual behaviors?
Problematic sexual behaviors are sexual behaviors a child exhibits that are harmful to themselves or others. These can take form in different ways, including excessive masturbation, hyper-sexuality, pornography addiction, sexual behaviors involve force, coercion, or aggression, and more. Sexual behavior problems can be very distressing for both the child experiencing them and their family.
How I Can Help
I have several years of experience working with kiddos engaging in problematic sexual behaviors, both in and out of the juvenile justice system. My experience working with these kids and their families gives me the ability to make them feel comfortable and safe while we explore behaviors that can be very troubling.
I utilize a type of cognitive behavioral therapy specialized for these behaviors called PSB-CBT. Using this model, I aim to teach kids therapeutic rules about sexual behavior, boundaries, social skills, coping skills, impulse control skills, and more. I spend a lot of time working with parents so healing can take place at home, as well as in session.
